Play Solana has released PlayVERSE. This is the first gaming decentralized application store for the PSG1 console. The store runs on the Solana network.
The company shipped the PSG1 hardware in October 2025. Now, Play Solana is moving beyond just selling devices. It is adding software that fills the console with content.
In a public statement, the Play Solana team wrote: “The first-ever Gaming dApp Store is now LIVE on the PSG1. Welcome to PlayVERSE, your gateway to the Solana gaming universe. Discover. Download. Play. Update. All in one place. GAMING SEASON starts NOW!”

The Problem with Web3 Gaming
Less than 0.6% of all active crypto wallets have ever touched blockchain games. That number comes from industry data. The main reason? The experience is clumsy.
A player often needs to jump between different websites, connect wallets repeatedly, and sign transactions for every small action. This scattered setup pushes people away.
PlayVERSE tries to fix that. The store puts everything in one place. A user can find a game, download it, play it, and install updates without leaving the console’s interface.
In addition, the store has a publishing layer called Play Gate. Each game submission gets recorded on-chain. This creates a verifiable trail from the developer to the player. Traditional stores like Apple’s App Store or Steam do not offer that level of transparency.
The PSG1 Console
The PSG1 is a handheld device. It runs on Android. The screen is a 3.92-inch OLED panel. Inside, it uses an RK3588S2 system-on-chip.
The design borrows from older portable consoles. But the technology inside is current. The device holds a built-in wallet named SvalGuard. This wallet stores SOL tokens, NFTs, and other in-game assets.
For security, the PSG1 includes a fingerprint sensor on the back. It also has a CPU Trusted Execution Environment. That second feature keeps private keys separate from the main operating system. As a result, even if the device gets hacked, the wallet may stay safe.
The console comes in two versions. The standard edition costs $329. The limited Pudgy Penguins Edition costs $349.
The PLAY Token and Ecosystem Tools
Play Solana runs on the PLAY token. Players use this token for in-game purchases. They also use it on the marketplace and to receive rewards.
Two other pieces complete the setup. Play DEX is a decentralized exchange inside the console. Play ID gives each user a single on-chain identity across different games and devices.
For new players, the company offers a tutorial game called “Play Solana: Origins.” This title teaches blockchain mechanics through an adventure story. The learning curve becomes less steep.

That device also had crypto features. The PSG1 and PlayVERSE follow the same path. The goal is to put blockchain tools directly into consumer hardware.
By doing this, Solana hopes to bring more game developers to its network. A developer can submit a game to PlayVERSE and know that players have a wallet ready inside their console. No extra setup is needed.
The store is live now. The company says the “gaming season” has started. For players who own a PSG1, the next step is simple: turn on the device, open PlayVERSE, and pick a game. For those without the console, the price of entry remains $329.
In the crowded room of crypto gaming, PlayVERSE is one more attempt to make things easier. Whether it works depends on how many people buy the hardware and how many developers build for it. The on-chain data from Play Gate will show the real numbers. For now, the store is open. The games are waiting.
