Axie Infinity has introduced “Wings of Nightmare,” a new mechanic that adds part evolution to the game and expands its lore. This event allows players to transform specific base parts of axies into Nightmare Parts, known as “Stage 2 Nightmare Parts.” These transformations are capped at a maximum supply of 39,000 units.
Axie Expands Its Lore
The event includes two new narrative concepts within the Axie Infinity universe: the Lunacian Dream World and the Nightmarescape. According to the game’s mythology, the Dream World is a realm accessible only through sleep, which once represented absolute goodness. However, it fractured into two opposing dimensions following the corruption of the god Atia, a descendant of the goddess Noma. The Nightmarescape, described as a dark and dangerous zone, is home to unique creatures and flora that present significant challenges for those who dare to explore it.

The event’s core mechanics revolve around the evolution and deconstruction of axie parts. Players must identify axies with one of 24 eligible base parts to evolve them. This process requires gathering specific materials, including AXS as the evolution fee and Mementos, though no additional resources are necessary to obtain Nightmare Parts. Once the materials are collected, evolution can be initiated on the official platform, with the option of completing it instantly or waiting 96 hours.
Achievements and Rewards
Additionally, a consumable called “Dark Flame” has been introduced, enabling the deconstruction of already evolved Nightmare Parts. This process, called “Nightmare Part Devolution,” has a 5% chance of transforming the axie’s body into a “Nightmare Body.”
“Wings of Nightmare” also offers rewards for achieving milestones related to the evolution and transformation of axies. Which may encourage community participation. According to the developers, this event is one of the most significant launches since the implementation of part evolution mechanics in Axie Core.
