The Sandbox, a popular virtual gaming platform powered by Ethereum, has announced the launch of CATALYSTs, a new ERC-1155 token that will enable creators to mint and customize their own NFTs on the platform.

CATALYSTs are designed to replace the previous gem system in the NFT minting process, allowing users to define the rarity and properties of their ASSETs across five tiers: Common, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. Each tier corresponds to a different amount of attribute points that users can distribute among Power, Defence, and Speed, enhancing the gameplay of their equipment-based NFTs.
Additionally, CATALYSTs will allow users to monetize their creations by minting multiple copies of their published ASSETs, depending on the number of tokens they own. Each CATALYST token represents one copy of an NFT, and users will need one token per copy of the ASSET they want to mint.
The Sandbox Rolls Out the Red Carpet for Catalyst
The Sandbox will introduce CATALYSTs through a strategic distribution to its ecosystem contributors, rewarding its loyal and active community members. The distribution will include:
– A free airdrop to all LAND owners on December 14, 2023, based on a snapshot taken on December 11, 2023, at noon UTC.
– Additional rewards for LAND owners who participate in the Winter Event and fulfill the requirements, in addition to SAND rewards.
– Future giveaways and contests for the community.
