Ubisoft’s ‘Champions Tactics’ NFTs minted out in just minutes

The interactive entertainment industry has witnessed an unprecedented event with the tremendous sale of the NFTs “Warlords” from Ubisoft for its next game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles

In a phenomenal twist, these digital assets sold out in record time, raking in over $2 million in sales within the first hours of their public launch, according to CryptoSlam data.

These coveted NFTs, which adopt a pixelated portrait style, disappeared in less than 20 minutes during their free minting, leaving many amazed for the speed with which collectors and enthusiasts rushed to ensure their participation in this event.

The euphoria has not diminished after the minting, as Warlords are being marketed on secondary platforms such as OpenSea for a staggering price of around $600 each, or around 0.27 ETH at the time of writing.

Interestingly, only 7% of the 9,999 NFTs are available for sale on these secondary markets, suggesting that most Warlord owners intend to retain them.

The reason? Use them to unlock the next free minting for the game’s characters

However, despite its appeal, some players might find the cost prohibitive.

This is where Ubisoft plans to intervene by offering an inclusive solution: a future free delivery of Champions figures for those who were unable to access Warlords or prefer not to incur the expense of $600 in Ethereum.

The game, scheduled for release in 2024, represents a significant milestone for Ubisoft in its foray into the world of NFTs and blockchain technology.

Champions Tactics not only marks Ubisoft’s evolution in this field, but is also its first original Web3 game developed from scratch, thus highlighting the importance that the company gives to NFTs as an integral part of the gaming experience.

The resounding success of the Warlords sale underlines the potential and constantly growing demand for NFTs in the world of video games, as Ubisoft continues to open new avenues for the intersection between blockchain technology and digital fun.
