Variance Phase 3 lets players customize Variants, attach Relics and earn 2x staking for Legend status

TL;DR

  • Variant NFT customization deadline falls on March 27, 2026.
  • Owners can reroll appearance free or attach a gameplay Relic.
  • Attaching a Relic boosts staking potential by 50 percent.

Holders of Variant NFTs now have a limited window to modify their digital characters before the assets become permanent. The customization period for Phase 3 of the Variance Collection runs from February 27 to March 27, 2026. After closing date passes, all avatar features will lock in preparation for the launch of the Variance web3 role-playing game.

The process gives owners control over how their NFTs will appear and function inside the game. Two distinct paths exist for customization, each offering different outcomes for both visual presentation and gameplay mechanics. The choice determines not only the look of the character but also its earning potential and status within the Variance ecosystem.

Two Customization Paths Offer Visual Changes or Gameplay Boosts

The first option allows owners to reroll the appearance of their Variant at no cost. Kodo AI, the same system that originally generated the NFTs, handles the modifications. Users can change elements such as skin tone, eye color, hair color, facial expression, and clothing.

Core structural features like hairstyle and accessories remain fixed during the process. The reroll functions as a one-time opportunity. Once an owner applies the change, the previous look becomes inaccessible unless a technical error occurs, in which case the system grants a retry.

The second option carries more weight for long-term game strategy. Owners can attach a Relic to their Variant. Players acquired these Relics during Phase 2 by sacrificing other Variants. Attaching a Relic elevates the Variant to Legend status. It also increases the character’s Aura, a metric that tracks player contribution but does not convert into a tradable token.

More importantly, the Relic boosts the Variant’s staking capabilities. A Variant without a Relic attached will stake at only half the potential rate of one that carries the enhancement. For players focused on maximizing returns, the Relic attachment represents the more consequential decision.

Post-Customization Roadmap Leads to Staking and Beta Access

The Variance development team scheduled several milestones immediately after the customization window closes. Staking begins on March 31, just four days after the March 27 deadline. Variants enhanced with Relics will see immediate advantages when staking goes live.

Closed beta access follows soon after. Players holding high Aura scores and owners of Genesis Portals gain entry starting at the end of March. The closed phase allows the team to test mechanics with a dedicated user base before opening to a wider audience. An open beta and a mobile client launch are both scheduled by the end of April. These testing phases aim to refine gameplay and balance ahead of the full release.

The game’s economic structure remains under wraps for now. Variance developers plan to release detailed documentation in early May.
