TL;DR

  • Partnership combines NEXUS blockchain tech with Redlab’s MMORPG development expertise.
  • Includes shared research and data to help other studios adopt blockchain.
  • Leverages Redlab’s award-winning game experience to integrate practical blockchain use.

NEXUS has entered into a new partnership with Redlab Games, one of South Korea’s leading game developers, to advance the use of blockchain technology in gaming. The agreement, formalized on November 4 through a memorandum of understanding, focuses on building more accessible blockchain-based experiences within the CROSS platform. Both companies share the goal of keeping gameplay intuitive while introducing blockchain components that enhance transparency, ownership, and interaction within digital environments.

The collaboration centers on combining the technical expertise of NEXUS with Redlab’s experience in MMORPG development. Together, they plan to create features that integrate blockchain elements directly into traditional game systems. These include token-based items, secure trading markets, and AI-assisted tools designed to support both players and developers. The introduction of these tools seeks to make blockchain use in gaming less complex, allowing players to interact with digital assets in a more structured and traceable manner.

In addition to development, the agreement includes a shared commitment to research and data exchange. Both NEXUS and Redlab will compile and distribute their findings to assist other studios entering the blockchain gaming field. This initiative reflects an effort to simplify blockchain adoption across the broader gaming industry, where many developers still face challenges related to scalability, asset management, and user onboarding.

Redlab Games has built its reputation through titles like ROM

Remember of Majesty, which achieved strong results in multiple markets and received recognition in the Google Play Best of 2024 Awards. Another title, ROM: Golden Age, already incorporates play-to-earn mechanics on the WEMIX network, using blockchain features to reward players through verifiable in-game transactions. Although Redlab has not confirmed specific integration plans, the new collaboration could see future titles adopting the CROSS protocol to expand functionality and reach.

NEXUS, led by Henry Chang, developed the CROSS Protocol as a framework to simplify blockchain integration for developers. The platform includes an AI-powered assistant and a low-code token management system, allowing studios to issue and manage digital assets without deep technical expertise. This design supports the partnership’s objective: to make blockchain gaming development more accessible and efficient for teams seeking to merge traditional gameplay structures with secure, transparent blockchain features.

The alliance between NEXUS and Redlab Games demonstrates a clear step toward practical blockchain use in gaming, emphasizing utility over hype. By focusing on structure, accessibility, and long-term development support, both companies aim to refine how digital ownership and interactive experiences coexist in the growing field of Web3 gaming.
