Details of the Investment of Lionel Messi in the Web3 Soccer Games Startup

Lionel Messi has made significant contributions to web3 before his investment in the Web3 Soccer Games Startup. For example, he is a brand ambassador for the Sorare NFT football fantasy game. He even joined the French company as an investor by taking an equity stake. This helped him contribute to the growth of the establishment without expanding the size of his holdings. The move did not change the earlier-agreed terms.

Speaking of contributions, Lionel Messi also released his own NFT collection in February 2022. This took place on the Ethernity marketplace and also feature stars like Dan Marin, Manny Pacquiao, Anderson Silva, James Dean, and a host of many others. The project raised more than $20 million. Matchday is a GameFi company that is dedicated to building games for football fans. Unlike traditional gaming options, this project enables players to own their digital assets as NFT. Considering that this establishment owns multiple games, NFT holders can use them on the particular gameplay they want.

The company currently has an official license from the world football governing body – FIFA. With this funding, they intend to expand the gameplay options available to users.

While making a remark, the Chief Gaming officer stated that their games are accessible to all everyone and offer true ownership. However, these recent funds will be channelled into creating more casual games or optimizing existing ones for casual players. The plan is to build options for the untapped section of the footballing community.

Matchday joins other soccer giants who have taken steps into the web3 space. The list includes Sorare, who raised $680 million in 2021. World Football Governing body – FIFA, also launch an NFt platform on the Algorand blockchain.
