Splinterlands has announced a new ranked gameplay format called “Survival Mode“, which will be added to the current Modern and Wild formats. This mode will allow players to experience a different approach, focusing on collection management and playing without energy limitations. Unlike other formats, Survival Mode will allow players to battle as much as they want without energy restrictions.

New Strategies

One of the key aspects of Survival Mode is that when a card dies in battle, it cannot be used again for a set period of time. The cooldown of the cards will depend on factors such as rarity, level, and type, which changes the usual battle dynamics and forces players to rethink their collection strategy. Instead of focusing on obtaining one copy of each card at a high level, players will need to accumulate multiple copies of cards to maintain a consistent level of participation in battles.

The rewards system in Survival Mode will be similar to the other ranked modes, with an SPS reward pool based on the victories earned. The distribution of these rewards will be calculated according to the “reward shares” earned by each player in comparison to the total reward shares accumulated from all Survival Mode battles over the past two weeks. Additionally, players with the highest ratings at the end of each season will receive extra rewards.

Splinterlands Launches New Community Engagement Challenge

Splinterlands Will Sell ‘Revival Potions’ in Its Marketplace

Another element introduced in this mode is the possibility to use “Revival Potions“, which allow players to revive cards that have died in battle, removing their cooldown so they can be used again. These potions will be available for purchase in the Splinterlands marketplace, with their price yet to be determined.

The Splinterlands team also mentioned that while the format will initially launch with a simple set of rules, they expect to receive community feedback to adjust and improve the mode over time. Possible future modifications include versions of Survival Mode that restrict the use of certain types of cards or introduce events with special rules,
